Hispanic Heritage Celebration
National Hispanic Heritage Month begins today, September 15th and is celebrated through October 15th. The celebration begins in the middle of the month because it coincides with the anniversary of independence for many Latin American countries such as: Honduras, Guatemala, El Savador, Nicargua, Costa Rica, Mexico, Chile and Belize. Rich in culture and history, the Hispanic/Latinx community has contributed to the many achievements of our nation.
In honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month, on behalf of Human Resources and the Office of Diversity and Inclusion (D&I), we would like to thank all employees of the Hispanic/Latinx community for your daily commitment to serving Suffolk County residents in the capacity that each of you serve. Your empathy, kindness, understanding and dedication allows for Suffolk County Government to be the organization it is today.
